Product description

The tom thumb bit is a cross between an American gag and a riser bit. It offers more precision and control and is very popular for show jumping and cross country. It has a lifting action in the front that can help the rider sit the horse on its hocks, allowing for tighter turns and more efficient jumps. The lifting action combined with tail pressure can also discourage horses from leaning on the bit. Can be used with a single rein on the snaffle ring or lower ring or, for greater accuracy, with two reins.

The soft blue iron oxidizes easily, creating a warm feeling and sweet taste in the horse's mouth, helping him to accept the bit. Please note that the blue color will fade with use, which is normal.

Measurements
According to our size guide, the A and B measurements of this bit are as follows:
A=15mm
B=125mm

Blue Sweet Iron Bits...
Blue Sweet iron bits oxidize easily, creating a warm, sweet taste in the horse's mouth, causing him to salivate. Some horses often prefer the warm feeling of soft iron over stainless steel which is naturally cooler. This makes soft iron bits ideal for sensitive horses or horses that need to be encouraged to put the bit in their mouth and accept it.

Pair your tom thumb bit with one of our anatomical bridles.

For health and hygiene reasons, this bit cannot be returned if removed from the model.
