The Vector safety stirrups LeMieux represent a new generation of stirrups: technically advanced and lightweight, while keeping the classic style expected from LeMieux. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, they provide an impressive weight-to-strength ratio, making them lighter than most stirrups on the market at just 419g each, without compromising stability. The ergonomic footbed of the control stirrup is set at 0 degrees, with a cross-traction surface and integrated hardened steel spikes to ensure maximum boot security. The footbed is supported by a dual arch balance system that evenly distributes weight across the stirrup frame's base. The top of the frame is recessed and offset, promoting an outward orientation of 45°, allowing the rider to find the optimal angle for their foot and to locate the stirrup when it is lost. The integrated articulated arm features a two-step unlocking system, preventing any accidental opening. The spring-loaded arm locks at the base of the main frame, which means that in cases of maximum pressure, like during landing after a jump, the rider's weight is evenly distributed across the stirrup, preventing the outer part from lowering and flexing. When pressure is applied to the stirrup arm, it opens and releases the foot from the stirrup, reducing the risk of being dragged. The breaking force of the stirrup arm has been tested at 36 N (equivalent to 3.62 kg). This demonstrates enough resistance to prevent accidental opening, yet allows for quick release if needed. It is important to note that for a stirrup of this design (with a quick-release arm), opening is not guaranteed 100% in the event of a fall. Several factors, such as the horse falling, a loose girth sliding the saddle, and a slow or unusual exit angle not generating enough lateral force to open the arm, can affect this.
