Saddle stirrups Vector

The safety stirrups Vector LeMieux represent a new generation of stirrups: technically advanced and lightweight, while still retaining the classic style expected from LeMieux. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, they offer an impressive strength-to-weight ratio, making them lighter than most stirrups on the market at just 419 g each, without compromising stability. The ergonomic footrest of the control stirrup is set at 0 degrees, featuring a cross-grip surface and integrated hardened steel spikes to ensure maximum boot safety. The footrest is supported by a dual balance arch system that evenly distributes weight across the base of the stirrup frame. The top of the frame is recessed and offset, encouraging an outward orientation of 45°, allowing the rider to find the optimal angle for their foot and to retrieve the stirrup when it is lost. The integrated articulated arm has a two-stage release system, preventing accidental opening. The spring arm locks at the base of the main frame, meaning that under maximum pressure, such as during a landing after a jump, the rider's weight is evenly distributed across the stirrup, preventing the outside from lowering and flexing. When pressure is applied to the stirrup arm, it opens and releases the foot from the stirrup, reducing the risk of being dragged. The breaking strength of the stirrup arm has been tested at 36 N (equivalent to 3.62 kg). This demonstrates sufficient resistance to prevent accidental opening, while allowing for quick release if needed. It is important to note that for a stirrup of this design (with a quick-release arm), opening is not guaranteed 100% in the event of a fall. Several factors, such as a horse fall, a loose girth sliding the saddle, and a slow or unusual exit angle not generating enough lateral force to release the arm, can influence this.
