The Vector LeMieux stirrups represent a new generation of stirrups: technically advanced and lightweight, while still maintaining the classic style expected from LeMieux. Made from aerospace-grade aluminium, they offer an impressive weight-to-strength ratio, making them lighter than most stirrups on the market at just 419 g each, without compromising stability. The ergonomic footrest of the compensated stirrup is set at 5°, with a cross-traction surface featuring integrated hardened steel pins to allow for lower leg stability while keeping heels down. The platform is supported by a dual arch stability system that evenly distributes weight across the stirrup frame's base. The top of the frame is recessed and offset, promoting an outward orientation of 45°, allowing the rider to find the optimal angle for their foot and to find the stirrup again if lost. The integrated articulated arm features a two-step release system, preventing accidental opening. The spring arm locks at the base of the main frame, which means that in cases of maximum pressure, such as during landing after a jump, the rider's weight is evenly distributed across the stirrup, preventing the outside from lowering or flexing. When pressure is applied to the stirrup arm, it opens and releases the foot from the stirrup, reducing the risk of being dragged. The breaking force of the stirrup arm has been tested at 36 N (equivalent to 3.62 kg). This demonstrates enough strength to prevent unintended opening while allowing for quick release if needed. It is important to note that for a stirrup of this design (with a quick-release arm), opening is not guaranteed at 100% in case of a fall. Several factors exist, such as the horse falling, a loose girth sliding the saddle, and a slow or unusual exit angle not generating enough lateral force to open the arm.
