The very unique distribution of heating elements in the Heating Mat allows for a gradual temperature decrease, going from the centre of the heating element to the periphery. This significantly reduces the risk of cracks in the glass walls of the terrarium. The thermal surface uniformity is ensured by wide bands of heating resin (PTC system). The advantage over other systems (like heating cables) is that the Heating Mat also allows for the creation of a so-called "cool" zone in the terrarium, as it is applied on only one side to the bottom of the tank.
