Goyo Aga Spanish bit: This bit is shown with two notches in the "D" of the ring. This bit has a fairly strong action on the horse's mouth because the reins & the posts are fixed. When there are no notches, the bit is less harsh because the rein can slide freely along the D of the ring as the bit rotates. A light resistance on the rein will place the rein close to the barrel with minimal leverage. A strong pull will gradually rotate the bit, & the rein will move further & further away from the barrel, making the bit increasingly severe. This bit has a less lowering action than the pessoa because of its half-moon shaped lever by hooking the reins to the bottom & top bit.
