Description
The universal bit combines vocal pressure and leverage and is ideal for those who need a little more control. The durable, double-jointed rubber mouthpiece with copper pellets offers a higher level of comfort in the horse's mouth. The copper pellets help distribute pressure on the tongue and mouth bars, encouraging bite and contact. They also help prevent pinching of the lips and mouth bars, while reducing the nutcracker effect of a single-jointed bit. It's ideal for horses that need a little more braking power but may be sensitive in the mouth.
Also known at nom as a continental bit, it works by lifting the bit into the horse's mouth in the same way as a traditional gag, but without the same severity. Probing pressure can be applied using the lower rings. A gentler option than the three-ring Dutch gag, this bit is ideal for cavaliers who need a little more control when jumping or doing work rapide, but who don't need massive pressure on the back of the neck.

Rubber horse bits...
Rubber-covered bits generally have thicker mouthpieces, making them softer and ideal for horses with sensitive mouths or those who don't like metal bits. Our rubber bits have been heat-treated to make them softer to the touch and more durable. Because of their thicker mouthpiece, they may not be suitable for horses with small mouths or large tongues.
Combine your universal bit with one of our anatomically designed bridles.
For health and hygiene reasons, this bit cannot be returned if removed from the model.
