The monochrome pattern can be a simple way to protect horses by helping to deter flies from landing on their bodies. Black lines superimposed on a gray background create an optical illusion in a fly's eye. They break up the shape of the horse, making it difficult for insects to identify it as a target.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- Research into how flies react to zebras and their stripes suggests that monochrome stripes confuse flies and have a natural deterrent effect on the insect.
- Based on this principle, we've created a bespoke monochrome pattern, specially designed to help camouflage horses from pesky insects and flies.
- This unique print is inspired by the pattern of a fly's wing. Superimposed black lines on a gray background create an optical illusion of a fly's eye.
- The pattern breaks the shape of the horse. Insects have trouble identifying the horse as a target and don't know where to land.
