The EDIX Calif horsehair mech is a high quality professional mech. The 5/8" mech has a 6-strand twist around a horsehair core and is 22 feet long. Mechat is firm to the touch, yet offers a soft, refined hand. Horsehair is often very prickly, so it's customary to use it with riding gloves. Horses react much better to the feel of horsehair on their necks than to manyautres materials. It's thanks to this quality of mechat that you can give very clear and subtle neck reining signals to your horse, thanks to the bristly hairs protruding from the mechat. Traditional materials and patterns also look great on our horses.
Depending on the size and shape of your horse, you need to vary the number of wraps of the mechat on the bosal, to adapt it to your horse. The photos below show how to correctly wind the mechat onto the bosal.
EDIX's Calif is available in natural brown and natural black, is 670 cm long and ends with a leather cord to match the EDIX ED3 bosal.
